Phone calls you don’t want to get

“We’ve received your couch and chair from the manufacturer, but… well… there’s a bit of a problem. The couch and chair are fine, but, uh, they didn’t send the arms for the couch.”

Mind you, this is an order I placed 3-4 months ago. I’m apparently now looking at a similar wait before I can get the couch arms.

I ordered a new bed with last year’s tax money.

The bed showed up early. They threw in a couple of pillows, even. How nice!

The under-bed drawers I ordered at the same time? Backordered.

And then backordered again for two months later.

And then backordered again for an unspecified amount of time.

“I wouldn’t blame you if you just decided to take a refund on that,” the nice guy at the furniture store said. Yeah, I went ahead and did that.

Niiiice. The waffle plates (!) I was looking at in December are currently pulling the same thing, which boggles my mind.

How do companies stay in business with these terrible turnaround times, really?
